Gabriela Olivares

“In the development of my artistic production processes, I start from reflections that go from the collective to the personal and vice versa. The body is a fundamental concern in my work because various discourses with political and aesthetic implications are inscribed in it.

I work from different supports of expression: graphic, artist's book, although I develop mainly in sculpture. I am interested in showing the fragility, transience, and memory of the body from materials such as ceramics and especially wax."

She is graduated in Visual Arts from Facultad de Artes y Diseño, UNAM and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Visual Arts at the same place, she is a member of the Seminario Permanente de Investigación Artística, SPIA of Universidad Veracruzana since 2018. She took the workshop of Artist Book with the artist Carla Rippey in 2016. She was selected in the 4ta muestra de libro de artista, MUAC; 6ta edición de Arte 40, XXXVI Encuentro Nacional de Arte Joven; and Bienal   UNAM in 2016. In 2019 she has an individual exhibition Territorios corporales in the gallery of Biblioteca Carlos Fuentes, Xalapa. She has participated in group exhibitions in Biblioteca José Vasconcelos (2017), Academia  de San Carlos, UNAM, Casa Vecina,  Palacio  de  Minería,  Museo de la Ciudad de México, Museo  de Antropología  de  Xalapa  y  V&S Gallery.
