Ariadna San Vicente

(Mexico City) Her work manages to represent the elusive, she Works with concepts like emptiness, fog, trauma, remoteness, fracture, memory, and representation. Her approach to these issues begins in a very abstract way, from sensations, thoughts, or short ideas to which she seeks to progressively shape by analyzing, comparing, and creating bridges between personal experiences and social issues.

The process of making the pieces is consistent with the line of thought that she seeks to represent, that is why collage is a recurring technique in her work since it allows her to imitate how daily experiences and memory are fractured giving the possibility of being molded.

From forgotten places, confused sensations, and scattered realities, she seeks to know how things are connected, to recognize the way of thinking and seeing the world. Sometimes nothing seems to have a clear meaning, but it is possible to reconstruct any thought to make sense of it, to use memories to understand who we are, despite the fog, despite the fracture. It begins with any moment, then comes to the introspection, intuition, reality, and knowledge based on the poetics that her work possesses, which refer us to personal and social experiences questioning our own beliefs.

She completed her studies  in Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado ENPEG “La Esmeralda” (2012-2016) and is currently pursuing a Master of Visual Arts by Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in painting speciality.

She has participated in many group exhibitions like Los revolucionarios. Tierra de sombra. Curated by Manuel Marín in Museo Nacional de la Revolución (2019); Creación en movimiento in Antiguo Colegio de San Idelfonso (2019); Diálogo abierto FAD-La Esmeralda Retrato / Anti retrato in Biblioteca José Vasconcelos (2018). She got the scholarship by Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes FONCA, Young creators category, in painting (2018, - 2019) and was selected in XXXVI Encuentro Nacional de Arte Joven, Aguascalientes among other awards and distinctions.
